Background Infos:
In the south of Colombia, in the Cauca region, where the whole conflict in Colombia strikes over poor peasant, afro-colombian and indigenous communities, the Nasa indians decide to reocuppied a piece of land that correspond to them (traditionally but also constitutionally) but that the State have fail to give them back. They occupied 65 km2 of a land that one of the richest man in the country (owner of corporate media) use for growing sugar cane. He, Carlos Ardila Lulle, is not just underpaying all the workers of his rich hacienda. The State is using all his repression and terror machine to expulse them of land that they start to use simply to grow crops and food for their communities. Landownership is maybe the central issue in the Colombian war and this conflict in between one of the strongest indian organizations in the country (CRIC – Cabildo Regional Indigena del Cauca) and the State is a direct reflexion of it.

We are calling to support the Nasa Indians in Colombian fighting on their ancestral rights for land and dignity.
